Hair Masks

If your hair is dry and damaged from chemical processing, excessive heat styling or sun exposure, incorporate a deep-conditioning hair mask into your beauty regimes until your locks are restored to their former glory. You will have to use your own judgement when deciding how often to go for this type of mask, bearing in mind that one of the commonest causes of lifeless looking hair is over-conditioning. Protein makes rebuild the hair, as they are absorbed into the cuticle, strengthening the hair shaft, while moisturizing packs help hydrate and improve manageability. For the best results, use on freshly washed hair which has bees blotted with a towel to remove excess water. To step up the conditioning properties of the hair mask, slather on before going into an sauna or steam room. If you are heading for the beach, it is good idea to smooth on a hair mask, leaving the sun to activate the ingredients. This will protect your hair and also improves its overall condition.

Hair Conditioning

Conditioners play a vital role in maintaining the shine and general appearance of the hair. If you skip them, it can result in your cuticles not lying flat and your hair looking dull and lifeless. It will also be more susceptible to damage. Conditioning sprays are a cross between leave-in conditioners and styling preparations, making them ideal for people with short hair or those who don’t want to spend too long on their hair-care regimes. You need to apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends of the hair, as the scalp’s oil-producing glands usually supply the roots with sufficient moisture. After applying, run a wide-toothed comb gently through the hair, rinse thoroughly and finish with a blast of cold water. This ensures that the cuticles will lie flant and provides a stimulating boost for the scalp. Donot towel-dry the hair vigorously but simply blot off any excess water; otherwise you will damage the hair and dishevel the cuticles. Never brush the hair when it is wet, always using a wide-toothed comb instead.

Skin Cleansing

Don’t over-cleanse the skin. Skin is meant to act as a barrier, keeping irritants out ant moisture in. When you over-cleanse, you strip away essential lipids and cellular mater which are responsible for retaining the skins moisture. This will lead to heightened sensitivity, which in turn can results in mild redness, rashes and dermatitis. Over-cleansing can also cause dehydration and premature-ageing. The pores can become inflamed and irritated, upsetting the skins cell-renewal process and leading to clogged poresand even to adult acne.

Applying Eyeliner

Application requires a steady hand. If you find it difficult to apply liner with precision, try drawing it on using small feathered stokes and the blend with a fine-tipped brush or the point of a cotton bud. To make things easier, put a mirror on a flat surface and then work looking down into it. As an alternative to the visible pencil line on the eyes, try a join-the-dots approach. Dot pencil between the lashes and then run over the dots with a fine-tipped brush. If you do not have a eye pencil to hand, use a damp fine-tipped brush and paint on eyeshadow in a thin line. If you have naturally pale lashes but cannot reach the roots with a mascara wand, use liquid eyeliner, dabbing it on to cover them. It is woth investing in a white-eyeliner: it could save the day on many occasions.

If you are tired and your eyes don’t look particularly sparkly, run a white-pencil along the inner rim of the lowe lash line. You will instantly look more awake and the whites of your eyes will appear brighter. It can also make small eyes appear larger. Never lend eye pencils to other people, as this is one of the quickest ways to spread germs. If you have an eye infection, replace eye pencils and mascaras to avoid reinfecting the eyes. Sharpen pencils regularly to ensure that points are clean.

Foundation Essentials

When looking for a new foundation, bear in mind that it should contain a sun protection factor of atleast fifteen for daily use. This should then be increased in summer, as the sun is responsible for 90 percent of premature-ageing. Antioxidants will also help protect the skin from visible signs of ageing, and light-reflecting pigments will give a flattering finish, taking attention away from any dark circles and sallow-looking areas, while adding instant luminosity.

Shopping for Foundation

To find the perfect foundation for your particular coloring, apply three suitable shades in strips across the cheek and jawbone. You are looking for the one that literally disappears into the skins. Your foundation should blend with the skin tone of the neck and not the face, as this is where it has to work down to. If you cannot find the correct color, custom-blended foundations are available. When you try a new shade, check it in natural light. You should always aim to apply your makeup in daylight, so if this is not going to be possible invest in a natural daylight bulb. When trying a new foundation, always wait fifteen minutes before reaching a decision as the oil on your skin and the air can conspire to darken the shade you have choosen.
