Curing Bad Breath

Bad breath is a very common problem in the world. There are many different causes of bad breath. Bad Breath is usually caused by the breakdown of proteins by bacteria somewhere in the mouth. Bad breath may be the sign of a medical disorder, such as a local infection in the respiratory tract, chronic sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, diabetes, liver or kidney ailment. Bad breath is not contagious, meaning you cannot catch it from someone else. Smoking is also one of the main causes of bad breath, along with certain illnesses such as nasal and stomach conditions. Bits of food that get caught between the teeth and on the tongue will rot and can sometimes cause an unpleasant smell. Occasionally, some people develop a bacterial coating on the back of their tongue, and this can cause bad breath. If bad breath is not caused by a problem in the mouth, you may be referred to a clinic specialising in breath odour, a dental hygienist, for further investigation. Most people can prevent or improve bad breath by practicing proper dental hygiene. Maintaining good oral health is essential to reducing bad breath.
