Eye Care Information

The eyes are windows to the soul and give a clear insight into your beauty regimen. The area round the eyes is the first to show fine lines and wrinkles, so the temptation to overdo eye cream is enormous. But less is more when it comes to eye care

While dark circles are often genetic, they can also be the result of poor circulation, alcohol or toxins. Because the skin is so fine underneath the eye, the bluish tint of the underlying blood vessels can sometimes be seen. While companies have products to fight dark circles, the most effective strategy is to conceal them. Do not dismiss wet tea bags and cucumber slices as old wives' tales if you suffer from baggy eyes. They act like a poultice to draw out excess fluids and work wonders the morning after the night before.

Eye care is especially important for people with diabetes because they are at increased risk of developing eye complications from the disease. Blindness is 20 times more common in people with diabetes. All people with diabetes should take precautions to help reduce their risk of developing eye problems.

Eye strain

Strain in the eyes is caused by wrong use. While reading or doing office work, eyes should De kept at a reasonable distance and the upper eyelids should be lower. The eyes should move slowly with the reading or writing material. If some strain is felt in the eyes, these should be closed for a few seconds and use them gently again.

Eye wash

Eyes should be washed by sprinkling cold water early in the morning and evening. After washing with cold water, the eye should be gently dried by a clean towel. Then the eyes should be closed for a few minutes for relaxation. This exercise may be repeated in the evening also after returning from work. In order to give more relaxation to the eyes, they may be covered by both palms gently. This exercise may be done for five minutes daily.
