  • There is often an itching, burning sensation in the infected area.
  • Red, raised, scaly patches that may blister and ooze
  • The patches often have sharply-defined edges.
  • Abnormally dark or light skin.
  • In acute infections, the rash may be moist and exudative.
  • The ridge around the infected area is generally very different in colour and feel to the surrounding uninfected skin.

1) Topical therapy is usually enough to cure tinea cruris.

2) Keep the skin clean and dry.

3) For severe cases Oral antifungal agents such as griseofulvin, terbinafine, ketoconazole, itraconazole or fluconazole

4) Treat all active areas of infection synchronously to prevent reinfection of the groin from other body sites

5) Don't wear clothing that rubs and irritates the area.

6) Dry the groin carefully after bathing using a separate towel.

7) Do not share towels, sheets or personal clothing.
